Llama Llama’s Little Library is a four-piece board book set featuring little Llama of the Llama Llama Red Pajama fame. The board books are simple picture books showing little Llama going about his day. Each book can be read on its own, or in chronological order starting with Llama Llama Wakey-Wake, continuing with Llama Llama Hoppity-Hop and Llama Llama Zippity-Zoom, and finishing with Llama Llama Nighty-Night. Also, can I just say, that half the fun of reading these books is reading the title out loud and having your toddler laugh hysterically because “zippity-zoom” is apparently a very funny word combination.
Llama Llama Little Library has four of the most popular Llama Llama books (of which there are currently 53 titles!) It’s also a hit TV show on Netflix if you want to check that out. It’s a great introduction to the character for younger kids. These particular books are less story based than the original Red Pajama book and much shorter and simpler, making them great for shorter attention spans. These books are definitely board books meant for smaller children. The text is simple and rhyming, and the stories are simple. Llama Llama Wakey-Wake is my favorite. It follows Little Llama waking up and getting ready to start his day in a simple rhyming format. Toddlers can follow along with actions like brushing teeth and getting dressed.
I feel like it was several years back when llamas were all the rage and there were cute llama themed nurseries and stuffed animals and t-shirts everywhere. I mean, really, how can you not think llamas are precious? (I remember gifting my brother this mug one Christmas.)
Little Llama is adorable and relatable to kids. The aspect of Little Llama being a young llama and interacting with his parents and friends and going about his day doing llama things is very relatable to young children who interact with parents and friends and go about their day.
Santa brought these books for Ava’s new baby brother this past Christmas. He found them at TJ Maxx on sale and knew that they were perfect for our household! Ava loves Llama Llama Red Pajama, and although baby Will is a tad young at almost 3 months old, his big sister will help read these books until he is a little older. At 3 years old, she was excited to open the box set on his behalf Christmas morning. Box sets are especially fun for the kids because it’s like receiving multiple presents in one! We read each book twice for a total of eight books read when we first opened the set. (Shows how short the books are!)
Overall, I think this is a wonderful set to add to your collection. Although I am slightly biased because the boxed set name is Llama Llama’s Little Library and my website is A Little Library! Seriously, how could Santa not buy this? I am very impressed with Santa’s knowledge and awareness.
