Picture Books for Aries Children
Written by Alice McLerran and illustrated by two-time Caldecott award-winner Barbara Cooney, Roxaboxen is a lovely book set in the desert about a little girl and her friends that create a wonderful place in their imagination. A gentle story of leadership and imagination, two qualities that the Aries child has in droves. The publisher recommends this book for children ages 4-8.
Written by Gareth P. Jones and illustrated by Garry Parsons, Are You the Pirate Captain? is a tale of imagination and adventure! First Mate Hugh has gathered a pirate ship and crew and now all they need is a Captain. This book is fun for pirate lovers and has a nice subtle message that the best leader might not be who you think. This book is recommended for children ages 4-9.
Swimmy, written and illustrated by Leo Lionni, is about a brave little fish who overcomes obstacles to help his friends. Little Aries will relate to Swimmy and eagerly follow him on his journey. This Caldecott Honor book was published in 1963 and stands the test of time. Swimmy is recommended for children ages 3-7.
Written by Tami Charles and illustrated by Claire Almon, Fearless Mary: Mary Fields, American Stagecoach Driver is about a former slave who travels west to become the first female stagecoach driver. She lands the dangerous but well-paying job by hitching her team of horses the fastest out of all the applicants. I love finding books like Fearless Mary about little-known historical figures with fascinating stories. Mary’s story shows us a courageous and confident woman, a great role model for young Aries (and really all children, of course). This book is aimed at children ages 5-7.
These books for Aries children have themes of courage, confidence, and leadership, all characteristics of Aries children. And no matter what your zodiac sign, all these books are great reads! Thanks for reading. Check back next month for children’s books for little Taurus’.
