Happy Winnie the Pooh Day! It’s a National Holiday, of course. 😊 Winnie the Pooh Day is celebrated by libraries and schools everywhere each January 18. The day is in honor of Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne’s birthday, who was born on January 18, 1882. A.A. Milne wrote stories about the lovable bear and his friends and their adventures in the 100-acre woods for his young son, Christopher Robin. (You can read more about Pooh Bear here and here.)
While there are many great quotes and words of wisdom to glean from reading Winnie the Pooh, some of the most memorable are about the friendship between Pooh and Christopher Robin, and all their friends living in the 100-acre wood. In honor of Winnie the Pooh Day, I’ve gathered my favorite quotes from Winnie the Pooh about friendship.
“If you live to be a 100, I want to live to be a 100 minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
“Piglet: “How do you spell love?”
Pooh: “You don’t spell it, you feel it.”
Piglet: “Pooh!” he whispered
Pooh: “Yes, Piglet?”
Piglet: “Nothing, (taking Pooh’s paw) I just wanted to be sure of you.“
“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams we can be together all the time.”
“I’ve found somebody just like me. I thought I was the only one of them.”
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
“A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey left inside.”
“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like, “What about lunch?”
“We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?” asked Piglet. “Even longer,” Pooh answered.
“After all, one can’t complain. I have my friends.”
