In this post I’ve gathered my favorite children’s book quotes about love.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. A day of hearts and chocolates and roses! (Or, if you’re me and my husband, a Butterfinger and a lottery ticket!)
But Valentine’s Day is really about love. Everything you do for your child is motivated by your love for them, but they might not always see it that way. Sometimes being strict with them can seem non-loving and mean, even though it’s motivated by love. For example, yelling at them for running out in the middle of a crowded parking lot and almost giving you a heart attack may not feel like love, even though your action of yelling is ultimately motivated by love.
That’s why it’s so important to tell your child that you love them. It reminds them that even if they do something bad, you will still love them no matter what. Reading books about love to your baby is a great way to communicate that love!
Words can be very powerful. Reading books can help you find the words you mean to say, but can’t quite find on your own. Books can put into words what you are thinking in your heart.
So for Valentine’s Day, I’ve gathered up some of my favorite children’s book quotes about love. Some are classics and some are new finds, but they all have a beautiful central theme of love.
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.” – ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ by A.A. Milne
“You are my angel, my darling, my star…and my love will find you, wherever you are.” – ‘Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You’ by Nancy Tillman
“And she loved a little boy very, very much — even more than she loved herself.” – ‘The Giving Tree’ by Shel Silverstein
“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.” – ‘Love You Forever’ by Robert Munsch
“‘How do you spell love?’ asked Piglet. ‘You don’t spell it, you feel it,’ said Pooh” – ‘Winnie-the-Pooh’ by A.A. Milne
“Love is sweet…and love is GRAND! Sometimes love…is just holding hands. It’s a feeling inside. It’s a smile in your heart. It keeps us together when we’re apart.” – ‘Love Is You & Me’ by Monica Sheehan
“At night the three penguins returned to their nest. There they snuggled together and, like all the other penguins in the penguin house, and all the other animals in the zoo, and all the families in the big city around them, they went to sleep.” – ‘And Tango Makes Three’ by Justin Richardson & Peter Parnell
“I love your happy side, your sad side, your silly side, your mad side,…I love you through and through…yesterday, today and tomorrow, too.” – ‘I Love You Through and Through’ by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak
I hope you found some great book recommendations to share your love with your child this Valentine’s Day! For other I Love You books, check out the Five Types of Books Every Toddler Parent Should Own.
